Trail Blazers’ Ja Morant leaves first game against Grizzlies due to hamstring injury

Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant exited his first game against his former team in the fourth quarter Thursday night with a left hamstring injury.

Morant had 14 points and three assists in 23 minutes before he exited and was ruled out of the Trail Blazers’ 124-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Coach Micah Nori said after the game that Morant felt a twinge in his hamstring and that Nori hoped to have more answers Friday. “I’m hoping that it’s nothing major, obviously,” Nori said.

Morant, in his first season with Portland after spending the first seven years of his career with Memphis, has averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 assists in 26.7 minutes. The Trail Blazers began the season 3-0 before picking up their first loss Thursday.
