Suns and center Oso Ighodaro agree on three-year, $29M contract extension

Oso Ighodaro, the Phoenix Suns center, has agreed to a three-year, $29 million contract extension, according to his agent, Erika Ruiz of Primera Sports, who spoke Sunday with Shams Charania.

The deal kicks in for the 2028-29 season and runs through 2030-31. Ighodaro will make $2.2 million this year, and the Suns will pick up his team option for next year, worth $2.4 million.

From draft-night trade to rotation staple

The Suns acquired Ighodaro from the Trail Blazers on draft night in 2024, after the Marquette product went No. 40 overall.

Ighodaro, 24, played 17 minutes per game as a rookie in Phoenix. He then became a rotation staple last season, averaging 6.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 22 minutes per game while starting 24 games.

Bigger role ahead

Starting center Mark Williams is set to miss multiple months after shoulder surgery. The Suns will rely heavily on Ighodaro and second-year big man Khaman Maluach in his absence.
