The NBA rescinded a technical foul assessed to Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic late in the second quarter of Monday’s 138-117 win over the Miami Heat, the league announced.
The ruling reduced Doncic’s season total from two technical fouls to one.
Doncic had not been whistled for a technical in his first four games. Monday’s technical was his second in his past three games before the league overturned it.
Doncic’s Technical Foul Count
On Oct. 21, Doncic said, “This season, I’m trying to not get techs.”
Under league rules, a player receives an automatic one-game suspension and a $5,000 fine if he is whistled for 16 technical fouls during the regular season.
Doncic has reached that number in four of his eight seasons in the league. That includes last season with the Lakers, when he served a one-game suspension during the team’s 120-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on March 30.
