TD Confederation Centre Young Company
The TD Confederation Centre Young Company is a professional training program for young performers from across Canada. The program includes vocal, dance, and acting training as well as professional development towards auditioning, industry best practices, workshopping new theatre, and much more. First established in 1993, many Young Company performers have gone on to work with major theatre companies across Canada, including Confederation Centre’s The Charlottetown Festival.

AASIVA NAKASHUK HOMETOWN: Pangnirtung, Nunavut
DREAM: To become a music therapist because it’s a different way to approach mental health and I really feels like it will help my fellow Inuit. Aasiva is very knowledgeable of Inuit culture and encourages anyone to ask her questions!
ALITA POWELLHOMETOWN: Whitehorse, Yukon
DREAM: To inspire younger generations to pursue their passions and to express themselves freely and honestly, no matter where they come from, by sharing my love of the performing arts, around the world. Alita is prone to bust into random accents at any given time.
CHRISTOPHER MEJAKI HOMETOWN: Peterborough, ON / Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve
DREAM: To share stories from my beautiful culture and also the harsh realities of history to awaken the minds of others and better understand us as a people. Christopher is Anishnaabe, Ojibway tribe. He is a story-teller, a grass dancer, and recently just got into photography.
CLARENCE (CJ) JURA HOMETOWN: City of Québec, Québec
DREAM: To perform professionally and share messages that impact communities with love, which I am doing this summer! “It’s all love” is the lesson CJ has learned through his artistic journey. He is Haitian Canadian.
DANIK MCAFEE HOMETOWN: Aylmer, Québec
DREAM: To make a change through my art. JOSH GRAETZ HOMETOWN: Burns Lake, British Columbia
DREAM: To “let all people define themselves as human beings, to break out of assigned categories and challenge received wisdom”. (Anne-Marie Slaughter) Here’s to the future! Josh is first generation Canadian – all of his family was born in South Africa, and he has visited over 15 times!
KAITLYN POST HOMETOWN: Sussex, New Brunswick
DREAM: A Canada which acknowledges and celebrates the nationalities, cultures, and identities of each citizen; it is only in recognizing the humanity in all of us that we can reach a future free of hate. “If you want crappy things to stop happening to you, stop accepting crap and demand something more.” (Cristina Yang)

DREAM: For a world of Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun. Kevin is deeply passionate about hip hop culture and overjoyed to be sharing such an important piece alongside so many incredibly talented people.

DREAM: To educate, empower and engage citizens in the rehumanization of Indigenous people and redefine the stereotypes around Indigenous people’s potential, nationally and internationally.
